RADAR SYSTEMS - ALACA Ka Band Radar Cross Section Measurement System

TECHNOLOGY FOR RCS MEASUREMENTS

ALACA will be used in measurement of the Radar Cross Section (RCS) which is an important parameter in protection of the Naval Forces Command combat platforms from fire control radars and guided missile seeker radars that can be found in hostile platforms, to test the measures applied to improve the millimeter wave Radar Cross Sectional Areas of existing or newly designed platforms and to determine the operational scenario of electronic warfare counter measures like chaff and decoys. ALACA has also a capability to create ISAR images of the naval platforms. With these functions, ALACA is a critical system for the survival of our naval platforms.

BASIC CAPABILITIES

Naval vessels needs to reduce their visibility and hence maximize their survivability by ensuring that their RCS signature is as small as possible. Decreasing of RCS signature is necessary to ensure that a ship is able to successfully perform its mission while maintaining its level of survivability and ensuring its crew remains safe.
ALACA is used to measure the RCS, which is an important parameter in protecting the naval platforms from fire control radars and guided missile seeker radars that can be found on hostile platforms, to test the measures applied to improve the RCSs of the existing or newly designed platforms in the millimeter waveband and to determine the precautionary decoy systems against jammer and decoy of guided missiles which may target these platforms of us.
ALACA has co-polarization (Horizontal transmit/ Horizontal receive - HH, Vertical transmit / Vertical receive - VV”, and cross-polarization (Horizontal transmit / Vertical receive - HV and Vertical transmit / Horizontal receive – VH) capability.
ALACA Measurement Radar is a Solid-State based, puşse-Doppler radar. Operating Frequency can be adjusted between 34.650 – 35.150 MHz. Radar Instantaneous Bandwidth is 50MHz. Range resolution can be adjusted as 3m, 6m and 9m.
ALACA displays the images of the target platform to the operator during the measurement with the High Resolution Day / Night Camera and automatically records them at the same time.
ALACA operates at 220V, 50Hz. The average power consumption of the system is 500Watt.

REAL TIME OPERATION

ALACA has User Interface Software running on a 15” rugged laptop.
ALACA User Interface Software provides the operator with a user-friendly interface for measurement, analysis and all control and use processes of the system.
Radar PPI screen, camera view, RCS measurements and platform information are displayed to the operator in real time and are also recorded for analysis and evaluation purposes. On the analysis screen, a large number of statistical data and graphics belonging to the RCS profile of the platform are displayed to the operator and reported automatically.
